STOP POSTING SQUARE CONTENT ON INSTAGRAM!

What Sizes Should Your Posts Be?

Remember when Instagram only allowed square posts? Maybe they had a deal with SpongeBob back then..haha..but that deal's off now!

To capture and retain the attention of your target audience, you need to do more than just create great content; proper sizing is crucial. Every second on social media counts, and the longer someone spends on your content, the more likely they are to stay engaged.

So, how do you achieve that? Read on.

The Bigger the Post, the More Likely It Is to Stop the Scroll.. it's a given.

Square posts take up less room on the feed, meaning they might get overlooked more easily. The trick is to use larger post sizes that occupy more space and keep your audience’s eyes on your content longer.

So what's the right size for your content?

Optimal Instagram Post Sizes

- Carousels and Standard Posts: Use a 4:5 ratio, with dimensions of 1080px by 1350px. This size takes up more vertical space in the feed, making it more eye-catching.

- Reels and Stories: Use a 9:16 ratio, with dimensions of 1080px by 1920px. This full-screen format is perfect for engaging viewers with immersive content.

Pro Tip

Ensure that the main subject or headline of your posts and reel covers fits into the center 1:1 area of your post. This way, nothing important gets cropped out when your content appears on your grid or the Explore page.
