A few weeks after Farmcrowdy's demo day pitch at Techstars Atlanta, an accelerator program for providing entrepreneurs with the resources and network to build meaningful enterprise technology, Farmcrowdy has made the move to users mobile devices by launching a mobile app.
As an agric-tech platform, the move was a response to the feedback gotten from farm sponsors who want to easily log into their dashboard and monitor farm progress, and also to prepare for the future as more users access the online platforms from their mobile devices.
With the Farmcrowdy App farm followers will receive instant notifications as soon as a farm is opened for sponsorship or when very important updates are shared.
The teaser for the mobile app was first launched on social media using the hashtag #WhatIsInYourPocket. This went viral on Twitter shortly afterwards and different media outlets, both local and international, picked up on it: (See photos below)

It was finally revealed some days into the campaign that what Farmcrowdy planned to fit into people’s pocket was its first-of-its-kind mobile app.
Speaking of the launch, Co-founder and CEO of Farmcrowdy, Onyeka Akumah said:
“We launched the Farmcrowdy app to provide an accessible, real-time platform for our farm sponsors who want to be a heartbeat away from their farms; and for our farm followers who may not be ready to sponsor a farm but want to be a step closer to what is happening in the world of digital agriculture. By effectively placing farms in the pockets of Nigerians globally, we are collectively impacting national food production and security, and allowing individuals to be a part of effecting change in our society while earning a profit.”
The Farmcrowdy mobile app was officially launched on November 14, and is already available for download on the Google Play Store, and in time will be made available in both the Apple Store and Windows Store.
To download and start monitoring your farm sponsorship/receiving updates on the app, please follow these four simple steps:
- Download and install the app
- Sign up for a new account or login to your existing account
- Visit the Farmshop and Follow or Sponsor as many farms as you want!
