#DearDonJazzy: How 1 Hashtag, 15 Posts in 11 Days Influenced Don Jazzy and Proves The Power of Social Media


Social media- if used strategically, is the most powerful marketing tool discovered by man. It's more exciting to know the power has slipped from the hands of the brands/personalities to the hands of the consumers/followers.

Hans and Rene Gelateria, a new ice-cream shop located in Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, 1A Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island Lagos, harnessed the power of social media with the #DearDonJazzy campaign.

Hans and Rene wanted a celebrity (Don Jazzy to visit their ice-cream shop and the only way they could reach him was of course, social media. 

What did they do?

They kicked started a campaign on Instagram, with the hashtag #DearDonJazzy inviting him to the shop. 

It took barely 15 posts in 11 days (of course people jumped on it) to get one of the biggest celebrities in Nigeria to the ice-cream shop.

Did they achieve their aim?

Definitely. This campaign  achieved it's set-out aim, free-of-charge.
